Shellac and Polish Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Shellac and gel polish? Shellac is CND’s brand of gel polish. We use Shellac for our gel polish services because it lasts longer than other Gel polish brands! It also removes more easily in with less risk to your nails.
How long do Shellac manicures last? Shellac polish can last 10 to 14 days depending on your lifestyle. It may last even longer, but you’ll probably notice a gap between your cuticle and the polish where your nail bed has grown out. Nurses, teachers and our nail technicians have all been amazed how long it’s lasted on their hard working hands! We stock CND’s “normal’ nail polish called Vinylux in all of the same colours, so that you can touch up your manicure in between appointments.
Is Shellac safe for expectant mothers or those with sensitive skin? Yes. Shellac does not include Formaldehyde, Toluene or DBP (Dibutyl Phthalate). Shellac is hypo-allergenic because it utilizes only a low level of photo-initiators. Photo-initiators can lead to sensitivity with some clients.
How does gel polish like Shellac differ from dip-powder services like SNS? Dip-powder systems like SNS and Revel are essentially “acrylic lite” products that use a combination of superglue and polymer powders to create a super-hard veneer on your nails.
